The stadium and Global Plaza are envisioned as complementary investments that will create a vibrant new outdoor destination for Des Moines and central Iowa. Together, they are expected to strengthen Iowa’s economy through tourism and workforce attraction, help spur additional economic development and activity, bring people together through shared experiences, and create opportunities for Iowa youth to experience the global game of soccer.

ISDF is an independent nonprofit organization. Upon completion, ISDF will own the stadium and Global Plaza.

Mission

The Iowa Soccer Development Foundation was established in 2020 to help transform Iowa’s sports and entertainment landscape by creating a new community destination in Des Moines that supports professional soccer in Iowa.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, ISDF is focused on advancing the development of a professional soccer stadium and Global Plaza on a portion of the former DICO property. Through collaboration with public, private and community partners, ISDF is working to create a destination that can generate economic activity, attract visitors and provide lasting benefits for Des Moines, central Iowa and the state.

Vision

Guided by community leaders and a dedicated board, ISDF’s vision extends beyond building a stadium. The goal is to create a vibrant community asset that brings people together, supports economic development and creates lasting opportunities for Iowa’s youth.

ISDF is committed to developing a professional soccer stadium capable of serving as a home for men’s and women’s professional soccer in Iowa, while creating a platform for the sport to grow and bringing new attention and opportunity to Des Moines and the state. 

Together, the stadium and Global Plaza are envisioned as a destination for sports, community gatherings and shared experiences that contributes to the continued vibrancy and growth of central Iowa.
